In The Dark
(Old West)

by Cyc

"Ezra?"

"Yes, Chris?"

"Stop it."

"Stop what?"

"You know what."

"I'm afraid not. What would you like me to cease and desist?"

"Staring."

"Staring?"

"You heard."

"What leads you to believe I'm staring? Unless my eyes deceive me, you appear to have yours closed, therefore you cannot possibly see what I'm doing, whether I happen to be looking in your general direction or not."

"Don't need to see to know you're staring."

"I happen to be looking out the window at the... snow?"

"You never noticed it snowed?"

"I was otherwise occupied."

"It ain't your money, Ezra."

"So you keep telling me."

"What was that for?"

"I'm trying to make you open your eyes. I trust they are still in there?"

"Keep trying."

"If you insist... how was that?"

"Getting there."

"And this?"

"Almost."

"Very well, how about... there. Now, as you can see, I was not -- Oh hell!"

"Yeah, you were."
